Colin’s 80 Hole Golf Challenge – Update

Colin’s 80 Hole Golf Challenge (see Events page for earlier information) eventually took place on March 31st having been delayed because of Covid restrictions.

Colin was supported by three fellow golf members of Lanhydrock Hotel & Golf Club. Colin Mutton who also played the 80 holes, Graham Cuff acted as caddy and buggie driver and Curly Hunt who spent his time spotting golf balls!!

The weather was perfect for a day of golf, dry, no wind and not too hot!!

The team started at 6.20am and completed the 80 holes at 6.35pm, stopping only for a short break after 44 holes. The two Colin’s walked almost 33 miles losing only 3 golf balls between them!

BBC Radio Cornwall interviewed Colin 4 times during the day to check on his progress, giving the Sunrise Appeal plenty of publicity.

The initial target was to raise £5,000 by securing sponsorship of each of the 18 holes and selling raffle tickets to golf club members, family & friends. A total of 25 raffle prizes, many donated by local businesses, were available with first prize being Dinner B&B with 2 rounds of golf at Llanhydrock Hotel and Golf Club.

Thanks to the tremendous support of golfers and friends 400 raffle tickets were sold and more than 18 holes were sponsored enabling a total of £10,000 to be raised.

Here is a record of the businesses kind enough to provide sponsorship:
