David Hosking was a renowned Cornish artist who sadly passed away recently. His wife Pat decided to use the many paintings, over 40 in number, which David had produced and not sold to raise money for the Sunrise Appeal. Mrs Hosking decided to hold an exhibition of his paintings, all of which would be for sale.
Louise Winterton the owner of The Customs House Gallery in Porthleven (and a family friend) offered to hold the exhibition and donated 10% of each sale to Sunrise. This would be added to the £3,500 already raised from the sale of paintings to friends. All but 3 of the paintings on the gallery website sold within in 3 hours raising a further £2,500.
We were delighted to receive this wonderful donation and are sure that David would have been delighted that his paintings had raised such a fantastic amount.
Mrs Hosking was also able to donate David’s substantial collection of art books to the Art Department of a Cornish college who have kindly said that they will ensure a suitable tribute will be written on the opening pages of each book.
Thank you again Mrs Hosking and for those of you unfamiliar with David’s paintings we thought you might like to see an example of his colourful work.
