In the summer we reported that Kate Brantingham was preparing for a Zip Wire challenge at the Eden Project to raise further funds for the Sunrise Appeal.
Kate was helped with her planning by daughter Annabelle and Annabelle’s school, Truro High School, who asked their pupils to create a costume for Kate to wear whilst on the Zip-Wire. Well, the youngsters certainly came up with a very fetching costume which Kate wore on the day and which you can see in the righthand photo.
Kate says that “The Zip-Wire was both scary and exhilarating”. She was spurred on by the thought that she is raising an amazing sum of money for the appeal, over £3,500.00 so far and with her Just Giving page still open for donations for another couple of months she is hoping to further increase this sum.
In the last five years Kate has battled hard to beat her cancer which spread from breast to bones and more recently her liver and a little in the lungs. Kate’s consultant, Duncan Wheatley, organised for her to take part in a clinical trial and the good news is, that at her most recent consultation the tumours are shrinking and she looks and feels amazing.
Kate would like to say a huge thanks to all her family, friends, and the pupils and parents of Truro High School for all of their support and work in helping her with her fundraising.
Well done Kate and a huge thanks from all of us at The Sunrise Appeal
